As a professional woman, I am proud to say that I balance my role as a woman and a professional while still being feminine. It seems there’s a misconception nowadays regarding this dichotomy. Since the dawn of time, women have been seen as mothers, wives, homemakers, or sex objects. Thank goodness for women’s liberation. Don’t get me wrong. I am not saying that I am a feminist. I am merely stating that a woman’s societal role has always been overlooked or taken for granted.

Unfortunately, in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, television, social media, and films portray an alluring woman as a seductress wearing skimpy clothes. Let’s not forget that clothes don’t make a woman. Confident women are sexy, whether wearing suits or jeans and a tee shirt because it’s all in the attitude. On the other hand, when she’s depicted as a self-assured, determined career woman, she’s considered menopausal or a witch. Men can always get away with better titles. He’s powerful, a pioneer, and resolute, but never a jerk.

As a business coach, I empower women to be fearless and confident. I provide support to my clients while educating and motivating them to be business owners. I guide my clients on how to start their own businesses and tackle challenges along the way. Moreover, I offer recommendations for their company’s vision, growth, and goals. Finally, I remind my female clients that women don’t have to choose between being feminine and career-oriented. Why? Men are never asked to choose, so why should we? It is unfair for women of any age to be boxed into categories.

As a female business coach, I help businesswomen uncover the gap between where they are today and where they want to be. You can say that I am their bridge. The secret is to build a trusting relationship. I believe in women helping women. I believe in uplifting them, not bringing them down. One of my mottos is respecting women’s identity, knowledge, and strengths and motivating them to realize their full potential.

As a coach, I lead by example. I love being feminine; however, my soft side doesn’t cancel out my prowess as a businesswoman. In fact, I sign all my deals in heels. Let me use an example to prove my point. I think you’ll agree with me when I say that Coco Chanel is the epitome of both femininity and power. As a successful businesswoman in the early twentieth century, she marketed casual chic as the feminine standard of style. I would call her “soft-aggressive.” She was assertive without losing her feminine charm.

I leave you with quotes from two amazing women who knew how to balance womanhood and business. They were pioneers who paved the way for all feminine businesswomen.

“Dress shabbily, and they remember the dress; dress impeccably, and they remember the woman.”

Coco Chanel

“A woman can be beautiful as well as intellectual.”

Audrey Hepburn
