Recharge Your Energy Flow

What is energy, you may ask? We throw that word around like confetti dismissing its importance. The Earth thrives on solar energy, as do all beings in it. However, we also flourish on the Qi (Ch’i), vital energy or vital force, as it’s called in traditional Chinese medicine. Indian medicine and Hindu tradition call it Prana. So both Qi and Prana refer to this life force as energy flowing through all living beings, keeping us grounded and centered.
So, if we spend so much time caring for our bodies and minds, why not dedicate time to recharging our energy and spiritual life? The spring season usually propels us to renew every aspect of ourselves, so we shouldn’t neglect our Qi (Ch’i). So, how can we uphold a daily practice that keeps this energy flowing?

Start a new morning or evening ritual.
Understandably, we all have different schedules and responsibilities, but we could sneak in five to ten minutes before heading to work or dropping off the kids at school. How about being kind to ourselves? While applying makeup, we can repeat affirmation words, “I am beautiful,” “I am confident,” or “I am love.” We can use uplifting words we like or apply to our lifestyles as long as they are kind. If we feel silly talking to ourselves in front of the mirror, just smile. Starting our day smiling can put us in a good mood. If we don’t have time in the morning, we can do this before going to bed. Starting and ending our day on a positive note can do wonders for our souls. Think of these words as firewood that keeps flames alive in the fireplace.
Be near water.
We can wet our feet, wade through the shore (I love doing this), or bask in the sun. It doesn’t have to be the beach; any body of water would have the same effect. Why? Because water is energy. We sit under the sun on a beautiful lake, riverbank, or sandy beach. Double jackpot! We’re getting two powerful sources of energy for the price of one. Let’s use an analogy and picture a house with solar panels. Everything inside the house gets powered or gets lit up. If the sun does this for an inanimate object, imagine what it can do for us.
Journal your gratitude.
Jotting down our thoughts on paper not only helps us release stress but also helps us reconnect and recharge our souls. We can pen anything we’re grateful for that day or even what we desire to manifest in our life. This easy and invigorating exercise will light up our inner fire. The beauty of this activity is that it is personal: it’s between the journal and us. We can be funny, serious, philosophical, or silly, and nobody will judge us because those thoughts are energy inked on pages for our eyes only.
Read a spiritual text, daily devotional, or poetry book.
Whenever we feel anxious, overwhelmed, stressed, or sad, we should read an excerpt or a page of a spiritual text (depending on our beliefs) to comfort us. Yes, our friends can do the same, but sometimes we need an objective point of view. Have you ever read a quote, a verse, or even a billboard that made you feel warm inside? We’ve all experienced this at some point. What was our reaction? We smiled because that text was what we needed at that moment.
Be of service and volunteer.
What better way to recharge ourselves than to share our time with others? Spending time with those less fortunate can fuel our spirits. When we volunteer, we not only feel accomplished but also happy. Helping our fellow men, whether at a soup kitchen, shelter, hospital, or any charitable organization, can boost our self-esteem and confidence but, most importantly, recharge our souls.
